Steve Wynn's new Wynn Las Vegas must be a pun for the kind of homerun he's hoping to have. Well luxurious it is but inventive, not so much. The dealer's hand: Gorgeous Tower Suite, Resort Room, chefs like Richard Chen at Wing Lei, Daniel Boulud, Hisham Johari's Red 8, shopping such as Blahnik, Cartier, Gaultier, Brioni. And a plum opening run of Avenue Q. In the player's hand: world's slowest construction, five years leading to world's slowest web site. This one lacks the imagination that led to Baby's at the Hard Rock or the roller coaster down the street or Joel Robuchon at the MGM. That combined with it being a cliche man's world here, where it's about golf, gambling and nary a woman chef on the masthead, makes it seems that this one's still for rich men and the women for whom they buy expensive lingerie after sending them for an expensive wax.
