Into Chelsea towards the end of King's Road, from owners Lee Chapman
and Leslie Ash (Teatro, Souk), JuJu is an extremely fun champagne and
cocktail lounge with all the opulence of the rah-rah market boom days
without the market busting prices. Black and maroon lacquer and
mirrored decor with mostly banquettes surrounding low tables, the
location makes it right for a cocktail at the end of a day of shopping
but appeals to the gamut (we saw a first date; a son taking out his
mum and dad; a cluster of footballers on their way to Ibiza; and a
girly birthday party when we were there.) Try the 3- course cocktail;
at just £17.50 it's 'aperitif' such as bellinis or lemon trees, 'main'
such as the Rapaska or Purple Passion, finishing with the 'dessert
course' of espresso martini, Caramellotini or Apple Pie. There's even
a healthy low fat cocktail list (such as the posmo (a pomegranate
martini) or the sake mojito); Innocent cocktails (virgin); or fruit
smoothies. Nibbles such as the duck rolls, Vietnamese vegetable summer
rolls or steamed shrimp dumplings complement beautifully.
