Barrio Central 6 Poland Street W1F 8PS +44 203 230 1002 The success of their Islington spot Barrio North, led to the opening of this Brazilian bar, which is decidely not your average drinking spot. While plenty of spots like this exist in New York or L.A., the colourful red, blue and gree decor of mixed chairs and tiling, global beers and armchair- travel style cocktails (think guava, think agave, think little umbrellas but done by those who have actually used their passport to go there) works because of the one- world, everyone- included type atmosphere of this bar. It's not a club disguised as a tiki hut, nor a basement disguised as a speakeasy -- there's none of that. Rather, check out the graffiti on the walls, left by previous visitors, and encouraged by the establishment. It's easy- going, it's fun, the drinks are strong, the music is welcoming, it's a bit of Rio carnival in central London. |
