The Wardour
201-203 Wardour Street
011 44 207 758 0670

The Wardour is frankly, extremely entertaining for the myriad of costumes and personalities who come through the doors. Ironically Peter Stringfellow came to notoriety for a different kind of entertainment (that with, er, less to no costume), and he probably had something different in mind when marketing this spot as a luxury member's club; but it's great for people-watching that runs the gamut. From men in pimp suits, complete with faux zebra hats and jewel-topped canes, to women in gold hot pants and scarf tops, there’s every walk of life in these two opulent mirrored rooms. Leave it to Stringfellow to make tacky (gold statues, gold draping, leopard velvet seating and a 500 quid Wardour Cocktail made at the table in a punch bowl?) into something cool. It’s one of the only spots in town where we truly think the management is friendly, the door is genial, the patrons are easygoing and fun, and you can drink at the bar, shake your thing or simply sit with a bottle and it’s not just all okay but very enjoyable.
