Named for Steve not Alexander, this spot, formerly the Tabernacle, is a hit or a miss. Primarily a bar that also has live music and a club listing of various events, it can be either a wonderful night here, such as when hosted by Jade Jagger, or a questionable mix of TOWIE wannabes. With a staff that may have remembered Shoreditch when there weren't many places to go out, and a cover charge, often when there's not many people inside, this spot will either win you or lose you on your first visit. The living room feel of leather couches and brown wood is not enough to overcome the attitude. However having won a number of awards, on the nights they have really good live programming, it can be a lot of fun. Perhaps eventually the "cooler than thou" attitude will wear off as the spot realizes there's plenty of competition in town.
