Luciano 72 St James Street 011 44 207 408 1440 Marco Pierre White and Sir Rocco Forte strike again. In the space that was Madame Prunier, a fish restaurant for those who wanted to be seen, er, half a century ago, is this Italian. The space, designed by David Collins, looks strikingly like New York. Deco elements with a washed tile feel and brass bits, the room smacks of bistro in Manhattan. The front room is a solid place for an after-work glass of wine though the spot's heyday has come and gone so it lacks a bit of that lustre and bustle found at some of the newer spots. Food is neither amazing nor are you likely to get food poisoning and it's nicely situated near Green Park just down the street from club Fifty. |
