The Curtains Up 28A Comeragh Road 011 44 207 386 7543 This Baron's Court pub in W1 is a 'good to know' for locals. Bright and airy, the Geronimo Inns' Curtains Up is predictably on top of the Curtains Up theatre, but it doesn't just do good for pre-show fare. It offers sidewalk seating for young folks meeting up for drinks, a proper Sunday lunch for the older set, the game on in the bar area for those just after some football. With classic starters such as salmon and haddock fish cakes and chicken liver pate chutney and toast; mains such as roast chicken with potato gratin, grilled burger, Welsh rarebit, beer battered fish and chips; desserts such as Eton mess and Sherry trifle, this place isn't aiming to rock the culinary boat. Surprising specials though such as a lamb and potato cake painstakingly and beautifully presented moussaka- style are worth trying. |
