This stunning outdoor (and indoor) bar in Santa Monica next to the Fairmont Miramar takes advantage of the good California weather with its expansive outdoor deck. Done with trees, twinkling lights, wicker furniture and lounging couches, the feeling is that of being at someone's house party. The really amazing kind you would have pictured a young Warren Beatty throwing in the 60s and 70s. The airy indoor house with its high beams and oak floors features a game room, a main living room, a classic dining room and another hidden garden. On weekends, this spot fills up fast and the line has been known to snake around the block with 20 something assistant- to- the- agent types but the weekdays are comfortable and perfect for dates or catching up with friends in a low intensity fashion. Late at night, expect a lot of untucked dress shirts and flip flops with the girls in tank tops and white jeans, and a healthy mixture of shop talk alongside chatter about where the best surfing might be found.
