Rod Surut is the king of the non-scene bar. He's best known for Naked Lunch and Gemini Lounge, two quiet little spots that attracted a mostly locals crowd, then became sceney for...not being sceney. And mellowed down just as fast back to a mostly loyal, mostly local crowd. We think the most cover we ever heard them charge for a dancing night was a whopping $5. Now Rod is doing his bit for Tribeca renewal with Romi going up in Spring 03 just down the street from the Three Legged theatre company.
