Inside a nondescript midtown west door, down an industrial hallway and up a decidely functional but ugly elevator, is this beautiful rooftop terrace bar formerly known as Highbar. Opening onto an unexpectedly lush Greek-meets-Starck setting, this half covered roof deck includes lounging sofas, a circular special room, winged chairs, scrolled wooden Louis XVI-esque benches (if Louis were slightly bankrupt) for gathering. Serving up specialty cocktails and nibbles, the best thing about this spot other than the sunset is the superb service. Friendly waitstaff who aren't overly anxious strike the right note bringing in lots of artsy types and magazine editors from nearby Hearst after work.
