Pooldeck Bar 44 West 63rd Street The Empire Hotel 212 265 7400 The exclusive Pooldeck Bar overlooks Dante Park next to Lincoln Center and is part of The Empire Hotel which opened in 1923 and was reputed to be quite the hot spot for decades. Now the new bar has a private elevator going directly to it and includes standing space, chaise lounges and five reservation- needed cabanas, each with it's own ceiling fan, phone, flat screen TV, WIFI and day bed. Letting in just 150 guests, and focused completely on the hotel's clientele, they have nontheless been the setting for some good private parties where the huge Hotel Empire neon sign (one of the oldest in the U.S.) has thrown a warm red glow of old- time glamour over revelers. Appropos setting for Ben Silverman’s NBC party, no? |
