Little Town 366 West 46th Street 212 677 6300 On a dreadful block, known as Restaurant Row, this undistinguishing looking long bar does their thing wonderfully; it spotlights New York draft beers. From the folks who brought you Sidebar and Vintage Irving, this Cornell- alum run spot is delightful for anyone who has spent time in either upstate New York or out on Long Island. With over twenty draft beers from labels such as Southampton, Coney Island, Sixpoint, Blue Point and Greenport Harbor, this is locavore and beer lover heaven. There are also New York wines (mostly from the Finger Lakes, where else) and even New York spirits (who knew we made gin and whiskey in the state) for those not fond of beer. However the "beer flights", a series of tiny glasses (they can choose or you can choose which ones) might change anyone's mind as brews range from soft and hoppy to clean and crisp to deep and complex. They do also serve a full menu, again with a focus on local eats (Long Island duck anyone?) but frankly, we think this is a spot that shines most when we're talking about beer. A great place to bring a brew lover - or anyone who needs convincing that New York is amazing state. |
