This fantasticly gorgeous cocktail bar from Jeremy Schaller of Schaller and Weber next door evokes a bygone era of Hollywood Regency fabulousness that has been lacking in New York, and certainly lacking on the Upper East Side. But it comes with none of the snottiness of the era. The doorman is friendly, the bartenders are interesting and diverse, and the drinks are delicious and accessible without being ordinary. It is not a large place, so make a booking on Resy, though they do accommodate walk-ins if there's space. It also manages to be suitable for dates, for friends and for just a person wanting a glass of wine on their own. A rare achievement, and extremely well- executed.
