InterContinental Times Square

Rising 36 stories above Times Square and built from scratch in 2010, this hotel has the luxury of spectacular views as it literally sits on the footprint at the edge of Hell's Kitchen where further development could not take place. As such, it's both in the heart of the fray, while affording a bit of distance from those who don't quite want to be in the party. The 607 rooms/29 suites have the usual luxuries, walk-in rain showers, 42 inch HDTVs, iPod dockable clocks, wired and wireless internet (yes they're seeking LEEDS certification) but you're going to want the breathtaking 2700 square foot Penthouse Suite, where Salma Hayek filmed her Avon shoot. It's a duplex complete with fireplace and a clawfoot tub facing the floor to ceiling windows. Even native New Yorkers will be awed by the concierge packages. For example, Glee filmed their finale here (building an extra bar in just four hours) so they have a Gleek package including classes at Broadway Dance, one of NY's top two dance studios and a commemorative t-shirt. As well, they can arrange for you to do the flying trapeze (a la Carrie Bradshaw) or learn silk acrobatics (if you always wanted to run off to join Cirque du Soleil). Be sure to check out Ca Va, their Todd English restaurant, which we liked so much, we gave it a separate review in NY, Restaurants.
