You know how your Mom always lectured you about sending food to starving children? If you’re thinking of sending it to Asia, you might be accused of torturing kids if you send it from here. Gray Kunz and Jean-Georges Vongerichten need to tighten up the culinary aspect of Spice Market. Our very first meal here during opening week was nothing short of stupendous. Unbelievable service, tasty dishes and all around a star experience. Complete with actual stars in the room. Since then however the Asian and Southeast Asian street food that is served here has dropped in standard drastically. You might as well save your bucks for your flight ticket to China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and India for the real deal. That said, if you can forgive the dismal meal, Gray, and J-G still have a happening spot on their hands. Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima stomped through for the Victoria's Secret Backstage Sexy Book party; Mary J. Blige has been spotted table hopping; and we still love pastry chef Pichet Ong's specialties which remain consistently breath-taking.
