Frederick’s 768 Madison Avenue 212 737 7300 Wahoo. The 80s are really back. The good part. Not the neon-wearing bits, but the Lesort brothers are taking back nightlife. The lounge is already open on East 58th and now comes the restaurant. With chef Vincent Chirico (ex Tocqueville), Frederick and Laurent are serving up tasty roasted fish, rabbit ravioli, fennel salads, all the good things we’ve come to expect from a Madison Avenue spot. The dinner ambience is a party-happy Euro contingency that fondly remembers the Lesorts' reign at now defunct Buddha Bar (at Varick and Vandam) and Jour et Nuit - starting the night with Sympathique by Pink Martini and ending the meal with Cada Vez by Negrocan, just in time for you to make your way to 58th Street. Expect a sugar daddy - and their dollies - crowd for weekend brunch. p.s. at the time of this review, this restaurant was the ONLY one we've ever seen with no violations of any sort from the health dept (a few is normal) so this place is spotless, clean. Cleaner than your kitchen. |
