Gusto 60 Greenwich Avenue 212 924 8000 A foodie favourite, it's a bit unclear who's helming the kitchen since Anne Burrell didn't start here as we expected but nonetheless the artichokes (carciofi alla guidea) are not going anywhere. And there is nothing ghetto about the classic dish the restaurant says is "from the Jewish ghetto of Rome." While the menu may sound similar to when they first opened, the pastas remain a reason to come clear cross town to this spot. Specifically the bucatini with sardines, pine nuts and raisins; the ricotta potato gnocchi with seasonal mushrooms; a pappardelle with braised oxtail; and saffron orecchiette with pork ragu and crisp prosciutto are standouts. Trust us, forget the over-hyped new Italian spots around the block and come here. |
