Le Miu 107 Avenue A 212 473 3100 From the Nobu and Megu chefs comes Le Miu, an ambitious new restaurant in the East Village. Yasuhiro Shoji, or just Yas (Nobu 57); Takaho Mori (Head Chef at Megu); Motonari Matsunaga, or Moto for short; and Miku Suzuki (Head Chef at Onigashima) all team up at this spartan new Japanese where the focus is strictly on the eats. The usual fluke sashimi is rounded out with some more unusual dishes such as the grilled miso lamb chops and seafood coleslaw. Though the a la carte is good, the key offering is the on-demand, off- the- menu tasting offered to anyone sitting at the sushi bar at whatever price level the diner decides: $50, $100, $1000. There is also a priceless tasting menu, kaiseki, but with no price restrictions, the good surprise is on your plate and the scary one in your check folder. |
