Bond 45 154 West 45th Street 212 869 4545 At this delightful Shelley Fireman spot, ably managed by Giuseppe Falco, mostly traditional Italian dishes dominate, veal scaloppini, a ginormous selection of antipastos including 20 vegetable possibilities and a lovely spaghetti with four meatballs (more than you can eat, trust us), but this midtown comfort spot, which equally hosts tourists hitting Times Square and New Yorkers ending their day, also offers prime steaks, aged 28 days in- house, lovely fruits de mer platters, several kinds of grilled fish and a roman mozzarella bar. The historic space is where the Ziegfield Follies began (!) and years ago even a men’s clothier got famous in this location for offering suits with (shocker) two pairs of pants. Quite comfortable, while we like the upstairs booths, the lively front bar also has ample room for those just seeking a post-work cocktail. Portions are large with even wine by the glass coming with a little carafe. |
