There's something very St Tropez about this rocking three-floor model-haunt from Remi Laba and Aymeric Clemente. Karim Amatullah recently jumped on board. The basement lounge Tzigan (whose doormen might well have been recruited from London's Boujis) has gotten all the buzz having hosted Dom Perignon's Warhol event, Shakira's after-party, a private performance by Snoop Dog and a Lia Sophia do, bringing in such folks as Shoshanna Gruss, Dabney Mercer, Dani Stahl, Dylan Lauren, Charlotte Ronson, and Antoine Verglas. While the staple visitor to Tzigan is - natch - the Boujis-ish customer; oodles of money, questionable dancing, model-friendly, table-service happy and for whom the good times never stopped, the real gem of this place is the restaurant, Villa Pacri, upstairs. They turn out exquisite Italian food, almost drowned in the champagne- antics of the crowd, but it's worth taking the time to savour it. Booths are best suited to large groups of five or more (what model booker doesn't travel with a large group) so bring your friends and order up such dishes as a delicious Puglia Burrata with Sicilian olive oil; perfectly al dente Spinosini, an angel hair pasta with tomato and basil; a rich Brasato, a braised beef short rib dish with polenta and cipollini. Nothing about this place is inexpensive; appetisers average $18, entrees average high 30s (a Niman Ranch prime rib for two being a surprising steal at $70) but nothing about this spot is skimpy either. Not the service, not the decor, not the wine list. Except possibly the dresses of the clientele.
