Cute, cute, get it, pig and cow? A light-hearted demeanor infuses this no-reservations restaurant from the Fatty Crew folks and Bravo’s Top Chef contestant Leah Cohen, which takes over the old Falai space. They've kept the front vitrines intact which is wonderful; one serves as a waiting area slash mini bar bench, the other as the bartender's corner, providing both entertainment for the street and a good use of space. A long raw mosaic tiled room leads to an open kitchen with a bar (which is where you ideally want to dine) and a picnic-tabled garden that does seasonal all you can drink beer (though you get the feeling it's more for fun than volume.) The food is a mix of the Fatty Crew "Southeast Asian meets everything" fusion and Cohen's personal take. Dishes focus (shockers!) on pork such as the crispy pata pork shank with pickled mango salad; the sizzling sisig with pork head, liver, chili and a whole egg; or the grilled pork jowl and watermelon salad with chili lime fish sauce. A slew of salads dot the menu such as the classic salad but with Chinese lap cheung. The typical fun Fatty Crew drinks are to be had, such as the addictive watermelon juice, the Pig and Khao Manhattan, cheap canned beer, beer in Hong Kong bowls, and Phuket Punch (pun optional.) Entertainment, therefore, is the focus here (ah just like TV) with drama around the whole fish preparation, and a slew of other dishes such as the curry, that make you say, "what's that, should I have ordered that?" so come for the show. Be prepared though; you have to like fish sauce and Chinese small chilis as those two flavours do tend to dominate almost every dish.
