Bagatelle One Little West 12th Street 212 488 2110 Bagatelle may have expanded to LA, Sao Paolo, Las Vegas and St. Barths, and moved out of their original launch spot, but this corner restaurant continues to reel them in, with girls' boozy brunches on the weekend, international types looking to woo their special someone and anyone who, well, misses St Tropez. It's champagne, it's tuna tartar, it's expensive, indulgent and fabulous. While some may have moved on to Brooklyn, or other hipster scenes, the French know a well-tailored shirt tucked into a sleek jean with a classic H belt will always be in fashion. And so this spot endures. The bubbles will always be small, the service will always be elegant, and with the recent closing of Pastis, a reliable spot that likes groups as much as they like couples, is a good find. The menu does change but recently we liked the scallops and the frites. |
