Minimal decor and unfussy service are perfect for those who have just had too much of hipster joints. Instead this spot is thrilled to have you. And we are thrilled to have it. A menu of well-prepared fish and meat dishes includes seared scallops over beautifully-crunchy sugar snap peas; a giant-looking serving of glazed pork ribs atop a corn salsa; and a classic white Cheddar bacon cheeseburger. Seasonal offerings, such as a mixed tomato salad with crumbled olive and smoked trout with endive and avocado, round out the menu. Everything is crowd-pleasing and perfectly cooked without being too much. You'll be glad this easy-going American spot decided to forego cramming you into the irritating foliage and reclaimed furniture that seems to be pervasive nearby. Instead, they have plenty of tables that can accommodate larger parties and a waitstaff that is more about their customers than their beanies. Doors which open wide on Greenwich Avenue will no doubt take advantage of every well-weathered New York day. Though at the tables, the menu offers classic cocktails, wine and beer, surprisingly the pours at the bar (which lines one end of the restaurant) showcases a well-stocked range of bourbon. And it's taken seriously enough to be offered with the appropriate whiskey ball ice cubes. |
